MORE jobs could be on the way at Strabane-based shirt manufacturer Grosvenor Shirts, following the announcement that it is extending its customer base to Africa. Grosvenor Shirts currently employ 25 staff at its Derry Road factory, manufacturing top end men’s and boys’ shirts.
The products retail at upwards of £100 from both its online and London-based stores. In contrast with the testing economic times, the firm has now agreed to open outlets in Nigeria and Ghana and these are slated to open later in the Spring.
The new stores are expected to increase company sales by £600,000 over the next three years, with all operations remaining firmly based in Strabane. Opened in 1999 by Strabane man John Quigley and Karl Dunkley, Grosvenor currently have two stores, in London’s Mayfair and Piccadilly.
Speaking this week, Managing Director Karl Dunkley said that, depending on the success of the new franchises, more jobs could be created at the Grosvenor factory. John Quigley meanwhile said the secret to their success was the quality, high-end product being produced at its Strabane plant. He also revealed that further expansion could be in the pipeline.
