Tyrone girls prevail despite leaky defence

TYRONE………………………………….. 2-15   KILDARE…………………………………. 4-6

Tyrone had led comfortably throughout this Division One encounter in front of a good crowd at Healy Park but their inability to snuff out Kildare’s scoring threats almost cost them.
It has  been the story of a league campaign that had produced two losses in the opening weeks with Tyrone guilty of conceding goals, something which is concerning the manager.
“Our forwards had a good day, we always looked dangerous when we went forward but we really can’t afford to give away soft goals like we did against Kildare. We have injuries and that makes life difficult. I believe we have lost another defender with a serious injury and the situation doesn’t seem to be easing, but sure that’s football you must have to get on with it and I am certainly happy to get the win.”
Full back against Kildare on Sunday Carol McGlinchey suffered a suspected fractured jaw in the closing stages of the game when she collided with Maria Moolick. It is expected she will be out of action for several weeks.
