Official launch of Riverine project

THE great and the good of Strabane and Lifford packed into the Alley Theatre on Monday to mark the official launch of Reconciliation through the Riverine Project.
Bearing witness to the ceremonial handing-over of monies exceeding €1million from the International Fund for Ireland (IFI), local notables from both sides of the border listened to a number of speakers welcome the venture, the extensive cash injection and also the legacy the development could augur for future generations.
Those present heard how the money (€1,004,887.50) is the biggest tranch of IFI investment ever awarded to a single project. They also heard how the work will now begin on a “shared space” of tree-lined boulevards, cycle paths, walk-ways and in short, an area which has the potential to become a cultural focal point for both communities.
