Strabane Rugby Club with coach Willie Gibson
STRABANE Rugby Club will be full of confidence for this Saturday’s Gordon West Cup final at Ravenhill after lifting the Qualifying League 4 title.
It is fourteen years since Strabane made it to Ravenhill, narrowly losing out in the final of the first ever Gordon West competition to Lurgan.
This time around though it will be a much more youthful and vibrant squad making the journey, buoyed on by a memorable semi-final victory over Holywood and the weekend’s league winning heroics.
Leading the team to Ravenhill will be coach Willie Gibson. He said a strong defence was key if they are to bring home the silverware.
“We’ve had a very good season and have only lost twice all year. That’s down to the hard work of the boys who have really come of age this past year,” Gibson said.
