HOURS after being confirmed as the new Dergview management team, Tommy Canning and Adrian Forbes have already starting planning for next season.

And the highly-regarded double act which led the club to promotion to Championship One in the 2009-10 season and a semi-final appearance in the Intermediate Cup will meet with all the players over the course of the next week.

Canning said getting feedback from the players was all part of the planning process for the forthcoming season, Dergview’s third in Championship One. He, too, said he was delighted to again renew his partnership with club stalwart Forbes.

“Me and Adrian have always had a great working relationship, we have never really had any problems and have rarely  disagreed on anything,” said the County Tyrone U17 Milk Cup manager.

“We have complimented each other, I respect him and he respects me and that has led to a good working relationship.”

When the pair worked together previously Forbes was number one with Strabane man Canning, who also worked under previous boss Harry McConkey, his side-kick. This time there is shared responsibility with the hands-on Canning taking on a significantly greater role.

“Adrian and I will carve up the duties between us but he’s certainly happy for me to take a lead role. I’m excited about the challenge ahead.”
