A flamin’ great day for Strabane
CHEERING and clapping, thousands of people lined the streets of the Strabane District on Tuesday morning to help the Olympic Torch on its journey.
Shortly before 8am, the torch arrived in Magheramason, carried by Tony Culley Foster, the only Ulster man ever to run across America.
Through Bready carried out by Derry woman Marie Kirby and Ballymagorry by Dungannon’s Ursula Hughes and Coleraine’s Seamus Reynolds, hundreds gathered to mark the historic occasion before the torch arrived in Abercorn Square shortly after 8.30am.
