Another blatant waste of money
A SECOND cash wasting blunder by Northern Ireland’s top politicians has been uncovered in Strabane, this time at the town’s Social Security Offices.
It has emerged that a staggering £220,000 was spent upgrading the local dole office months before the announcement that 80 per-cent of staff were being shifted to Derry.
Documents released under Freedom of Information also reveal how £400,000 in total was spent enhancing and maintaining the facility over the past five years.
It is the second time such a money wasting gaffe by Northern Ireland’s top politicians has been exposed in Strabane in the past six months.
It emerged in January that the Court Service spent £120,000 refurbishing Strabane courthouse before earmarking it for closure.
