Bomb alerts declared hoaxes
POLICE on both sides of the border are trying to trace a caller who sparked bomb alerts in Lifford and Strabane on Tuesday evening.
A PSNI helicopter was scrambled shortly after 6.30pm when Gardai in Donegal received a call that a bomb had been left close to Lifford cinema and a second device at Strabane’s Patrick Street.
Extensive searches of both areas were carried out although no homes were evacuated. The incident was declared a hoax shortly after 9.30pm.
