Pensioner terrified following weekend attack on home

Melvin Court in Strabane.

A STRABANE pensioner says she is terrified for her safety after a drunken gang went on the rampage at her home.

Too afraid to phone the police, the 74-year-old cowered in her bed for an hour as the youths ran amok outside.

Following her ordeal on Friday night, the lady says she is dreading the on-set of another weekend.

Meanwhile residents on a neighbouring housing estate say they are at the end of their tethers following another weekend of mayhem.

Speaking to the Strabane Chronicle, the elderly lady, who lives alone, recalled how she was frozen in her bed with fear.

“I went to bed and read for a while before I fell asleep. I woke at about 3am when I heard them outside the window. I sleep at the front of the house so you hear every sound.

“I heard them throwing stuff on to the roof and running about outside the house. It went on for nearly an hour and I was just terrified.”
