Residents remove suspicious object from Ballycolman Estate

FOR the second time in a fortnight a suspicious object has been dealt with in the Ballycolman Estate.
A coffee jar packed with nails and wire was discovered lying on a main road into the estate by residents shortly after 3.20am.
Concerned for the safety of a number of elderly people living in the vicinity, the community removed the device from the road.
Bomb disposal experts were tasked to the new location and a controlled explosion was carried out. The object was declared an elaborate hoax.
The incident comes two weeks after a pipe bomb was thrown in to house on the estate, leading to a major security operation.
Urging anyone with information to get in touch, a PSNI spokesperson said, “We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Or, If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
