STRABANE woman Dr Aideen McGinley says she feels both “honoured” and “privileged” to be selected for a position on the BBC Trust.
The current chief executive of Derry’s urban regeneration company, Ilex, will leave the company later this year.
During her time at Ilex, Dr McGinley played a key role in securing the UK City of Culture status for Derry, the transforming of the disused army barracks into what is now Ebrington Square and also, delivering the Peace Bridge.
The former employee at Strabane District Council took the position in September 2009 on secondment from the civil service where she was permanent secretary to the Department of Employment and Learning.
“Absolutely, I feel very honoured and privileged to have been selected for the BBC Trust,” she told the Chronicle this week.
