A Strabane man accused of escaping from custody in Omagh will go on trial next month.
Peter Mullan (22) is alleged to have escaped from the Northern Ireland Prison Service after he was convicted of an offence on January 17. Mullan’s addressed was given as HMP Maghaberry when he appeared at Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday. He was flanked by two prison officers in the dock as the charge was put to him.
A member of the Public Prosecution Service told the court Mullan does have a case to answer. His solicitor John McManus did not make any counter submission.
In response to the charge the prisoner indicated that he had nothing to say at this stage of the proceedings.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Omagh Crown Court on September 18.
