Morning blaze in Strabane


Police officers attend the scene of a fire at the former Adria site in Strabane on Thursday morning.

YOUNG people are being blamed for starting this morning’s fire at the former Adria site in Strabane.

The blaze, which was started around 10.30am, pumped black plumes of smoke into the morning sky over the local Ashgrove Park.

Approximately 100 tyres were set alight in an incident fire crews have confirmed was started deliberately.

Extinguished by 11.30am, two crews attended the scene, one from Strabane Fire Station and another from Newtownstewart.
