Residents appeal to Derry Road speeders

RESIDENTS on the Derry Road in Strabane are appealing to drivers to slow down before someone is seriously injured or even killed.

According to locals in the Tullacorr, Town Parks, and Glen Side areas, speeding along the town’s exit has long been a problem, with drivers sometimes travelling at twice the speed limit.
“You are taking your life in your hands every time you step out onto that road,” Tullacorr Heights resident, Tracy Harte remarked this week.

“Because of the speed some drivers are travelling at, it’s a potential death trap. I’ve been talking about this for years – it’s a nightmare – but do we have to wait for yet more accidents before something is done?”
