Sigersons keeper Shane McGonigle is stretchered off after dislocating his knee during Sunday’s game against Rock.

SIGERSONS goalkeeper Shane McGonigle’s footballing career is in the balance following a freak injury sustained during his side’s weekend clash with Rock.

The game was delayed for an hour after the 19-year-old dislocated his knee during a half-time warm up. After being rushed to hospital his leg was plastered from hip to thigh and Shane has now been informed that he could be out of action for up to two years.

“It was such a freak accident. I could go out today and run for exactly the same ball and the foot and knee would be grand.

“But at the minute I’m in plaster up to my thigh and I won’t know any more until Monday,” the 19-year-old said.
