Paralympian star drops in at St Mary’s Primary School

Paralympian double medal winner Jason Smyth with his fiancee Elisa Jordan. The happy couple, with Jason’s coach Stephen Maguire, dropped in for a surprise visit at St Mary’s Primary School, Strabane earlier today.

PARALYMPIC double gold medalist Jason Smyth was literally taking his new found stardom in his stride yesterday (Wednesday) when he visited St Mary’s Primary School.

Accompanied by his fiancee Elize Jordan, Jason paid a visit to the school as a surprise to the son of his Strabane coach Stephen Maguire. Little Shay Maguire got the shock of his life when dad Stephen and the fastest Paralympian on earth dropped in for a chat.

The school came to a standstill as Jason showed off the 100m and 200m golds he sprinted to in London recently.
When quizzed by the young boys and girls, Jason found himself flummoxed with questions including “Will you be the fastest man in the world when Usain Bolt retires” and “Are you quicker than Mo Farah”.
As professional off the track as on though, the Eglinton man happily joined in the fun and posed for photos.
