Man flashed at female officer

Strabane court

SENTENCING has been deferred on a Strabane man who admitted flashing his privates at a female police officer.

Jordan Stewart (21) of Pearse Gardens appeared in court on Thursday charged with disorderly behaviour and exposing himself. The charges arose following a confrontation with police on August 13 last year.

At 12.25am, police were at Butcher Street when Stewart approached and pulled his shirt off. He began swearing at them before pulling his trousers down and shouting “Up the Ra”. He then flashed his back side before turning and flashing his penis at a female officer.

Stewart ran towards police with his fists clenched, forcing an officer to draw CS spray. He ran past however but was detained a short distance away. As he was being arrested he again shouted “Up the Ra”.

District Judge Nigel Broderick pointed out that the defendant was in breach of three suspended sentences. He also noted that he had other charges pending and agreed to defer sentencing for six months until September 25.
