Bready ladies on top

STEPHANIE Wilkinson top scored with 30 as Bready beat Fox Lodge by 40 runs in the Ladies Cup final.
Wilkinson hit three fours in her vital innings which helped Bready post 78 in front of a large crowd at a sun drenched Burndennett.

She was given good support by Kara Scanlon who made 11.Toni Miller (3-20), Julie Logue (2-16), and Elaine Neely (2-21) were the pick of the Foxies attack.

Julie Logue (15) got Fox Lodge off to a breezy start, but the dismissal of her and Emma Sproule saw a batting collapse which saw them dismissed for 38.

Kellie-Ann Carlin picked up four wickets for 20, while Bready skipper Jemma Rankin was also among the wickets, taking 3 for 6.

Presenting the trophy, NW Warriors coach Bobby Rao paid tribute to Burndennett for their excellent hosting of the final, and to Development Officer Brian Allen for his tireless efforts in promoting the ladies game throughout the region.

Match umpires Raymond Doherty and Raj Padmanabhan were the player of the match adjudicators and plumped for Wilkinson, whose runs were the decisive factor in the low scoring contest.

Meanwhile charity cricket matches will take place this Sunday (August 10) in aid of Foyle Hospice.

In memory of Betty Brown and Jay Curry the first match will begin at 12 noon, Burndennet against Creevdonnell. Then at 2pm Killyclooney will play Donemana. The final will follow featuring the two winners.Music and presentations take place afterwards. Everyone welcome.
