Anne Marie McGlynn sets new Irish record. DR71

Strabane athlete Ann Marie McGlynn set a new Irish record in the 2,000m steeplechase in Manchester on Saturday taking a massive 42 seconds off the previous best.

Ann Marie races for Thames Valley Harriers, London, when racing overseas which is the ranked number one club in the UK.

In perfect conditions, the local runner enjoyed an excellent race when coming second to Olympic-qualified athlete Sara Treacy.

With this being her first race over this distance, Ann Marie now looks foward to her next race in Belguim at the end of May.
