Trevor McGlynn who broke the tape in Remembrance Run

LOCAL athlete Trevor McGlynn secured a poignant victory in this year’s Finn Valley Remembrance Run which was held on Sunday last.

McGlynn lined out for the race in memory of his grandad Billy Mills, his first ever coach Gerry O’Donnell as well as great friend and mentor Mickey Joe Doherty.

The win marks a further marker on the veteran athlete’s recent return to form and he said he was over the moon to break the tape first.

“In extremely cold conditions it was lovely to come home with a win, running a season’s best over the distance.

“The Remembrance Run is such a great event, enabling people to come out and take part in memory of their loved ones who have passed.”

Next up for the local athlete it is back to coaching his Lifford Strabane athletes as well as gearing up for the forthcoming All- Ireland Pentathlon Championships.
