Sigersons celebrate win against Aghyaran

Strabane Sigersons…5-9

STRABANE Sigersons ladies team will compete in the Tyrone senior ranks next season after defeating Aghayaran in Saturday’s Intermediate League Final at Castlederg’s Marius McHugh Park.

In the end Sigersons emerged two points victors after a pulsating showpiece decider which produced a total of eight goals.

By half-time an own goal and a strike by the impressive Aimee Coyle had the St Davog’s well in command 2-8 to 0-5.

However a blistering spell at the beginning of the second half turned the tables in the most dramatic fashion. Lorraine Conwell hit the net twice in quick succession before a major by Zara O’Hagan had Sigersons ahead.

Aghyaran responded with Coyle scoring a free, followed by a splendid point and a second goal to nudge the St Davog’s back in front.

However Strabane were far from finished. Rachel Brennan struck a fourth goal and in the dying moments a  searching ball driven into the Aghyaran square by Tori McLaughlin somehow found its way to the net.
