THE Sion Mills Independent Pipe Band brought a little Irish magic to the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Birmingham last weekend.
The band performed in front of an estimated 10,000 people who turned out to paint the city green on Saturday.
This was the second year in succession that the Sion Mills Band have made the trip to Birmingham to entertain the Irish community there and for several of the young pipers, this was their first performance outside Ireland.
Pipe Major Sean Campbell spoke highly of his Band members. He said, “All the musicians worked really hard at rehearsals all over the winter and this dedication was reflected in the playing and in the reception the band got from the crowd,” he said. “It was a great event.”
