Champions prove too strong for Sigersons

DEFENDING Senior league champions Dromore got their defence of the Brendan Dolan Memorial Trophy off to a blistering start on Sunday as they streamrollered Strabane 3-13 to 1-6.

Emmet McNabb grabbed two goals for St Dympna’s while Ronan McNabb was their other goalscorer. At the other end Michael Etherson netted for the Sigersons, who struggled to quell the visitors throughout.

Elsewhere Ardboe had to pull out all the stops to beat newly promoted Urney at Coney Park. The Rossas led 1-7 to 0-8 at the break with Gary Donnelly getting their goal and Mattie Bell, Kyle Coney and Peter O’Neill providing points, Johnny Lafferty with a brace for the St.Columbas.

O’Neill and Lafferty exchanged points on the restart before Michael Lynn gave the hosts some breathing space with a second goal. Jamie McAleer got a goal in the final quarter for Urney but it was the home side who triumphed 2-11 to 1-10.
