TALENTED dancers from Encore PAA Dance are celebrating after taking top marks in their recent dance exams.

165 dancers aged from six to 14 years took their IDTA Dance Exam Awards recently and Encore PAA had a 100 per-cent pass rate, with the majority of students receiving the top level gradings of distinction and merit. The exams were in Modern Theatrecraft Dance and Tap Dance.
Caroline Barker, Encore PAA dance director, explained, “The examiner commented how well prepared all the dancers were, and that they showed a very good standard of technique developing and a promising sense of style and performance appropriate to each dancer’s age and physical development.

“She also commented how delightful the younger students were as they performed all their dances and she enjoyed watching their dances very much.  All the students had worked very hard and I am very proud of all their achievements.  The Dance Exam structure can be demanding but all the dancers improved immensely and practiced really hard  and thoroughly deserved their awards. The dancers were so excited to receive their awards, certificates and medals.  Congratulations to all our students.”

Encore PAA Dance Senior Team have also recorded amazing success as they have qualified and been selected to represent Team N Ireland at the Dance World Cup (DWC) Championships which are in Germany from June 23 to July 1.  The team is made up of 21 dancers aged 12-18 years and is a cross community and cross border group which any of Encore PAA Dance students can sign up to if they wanted the opportunity to be a part of the project.

Caroline Barker choreographed and developed three new group dances, a Tap Quartet, Modern Trio and Solo dances in Lyrical, Modern Jazz and Tap styles for the qualifiers and is absolutely delighted to have got all their groups, quartet and trio through to the finals plus five soloists.

Revealing more exciting news Caroline explained that the Encore PAA Dance Team Lyrical Group ‘The Aftermath’ won the Best Overall Group at the N Ireland DWC qualifier.  This was judged by an International panel of judges and choreographed by Caroline.  They were awarded a prize of €240.

Encore PAA Dance are current All Ireland Champions.  The team are currently fundraising to help get these dancers to Germany so look out around the town for any fundraising events.
