Two Castles duo reach Irish Finals

The 2 Castles Club, Newtownstewart have two boxers competing at the Irish Championships at the National Stadium in Dublin over the coming weeks. Irish champion Jude Gallagher is through to the semi finals where he will meet Dublin opponent Ryan Dunne.

Already through to the final and keeping the Newtownstewart Club firmly in the headlines is tall featherweight, Tiarnan Mayse.

In his quarter final bout Tiarnan had a very emphatic win against European bronze medalist from Dublin, Francis Maughan.

The next day Tiarnan boxed in his semi final against Antrim champion, Sam McCullagh from the All Saints Club in Ballymena. In this bout as in his quarter final, Tiarnan showed his immense talent, completely dominating from start to finish, winning clearly to advance to the finals.

The Irish Championship finals will be held on Saturday 8 April at the National Stadium in Dublin.
