STRIKER Chloe McGlade swooped with a late equaliser to earn Sion Swifts Ladies a share of the spoils against title-chasing Newry Ladies at a sun-kissed Darragh Park on Wednesday evening.

With just 10 minutes remaining Lauren Harper and Julianne Herrity combined to send the young Drumquin woman dashing in from the left to fire across the home keeper and inside the far post.

The deserved draw proved perfect preparation for the visit of league leaders Linfield who travel to Darragh Park this evening (Monday) for a first round League Cup clash (Kick-off 7.30pm).

Coach Tommy Canning was delighted the character the North Tyrone girls had shown in chiselling out a precious point.

“Last season or the season before we probably would have lost that game 3-1 or 4-1 instead of battling back for a point,” said the former Milk Cup supremo.

“It was really pleasing to see the girls dig in to earn a draw. Newry have real ambitions of winning the league this year and they’ll consider this as two points dropped.”
