STRABANE Chronicle movie columnist and avid quiz-goer, Paul McElwee will later today (Thursday) appear on popular Channel 4 quiz, Fifteen to One.

Tackling the big daddy of afternoon TV shows for the second time in as many years, Paul was this week remaining tight-lipped on his progress on the programme.
However the Strabane man remarked that the Valentine’s Day filming of the show at the BBC studios in Glasgow, was “brilliant craic”.

“After the last time I was on the programme, the production company contacted me to see if I’d be interested in making another appearance,” Paul explained. “I said of course I would… and it went from there.

“They said because I had done so well the last time, they have a policy of inviting people back.”

Hosted by Sandi Toksvig, Fifteen to One is one of the most popular TV quiz shows in history, regularly pulling in huge viewer numbers.

Originally hosted by William G Stewart, the quiz is also renowned for being one of the toughest general knowledge challenges on TV.

“It was filmed on Valentine’s Day and it was brilliant craic; I really enjoyed it,” Paul continued. “A few of the winners from the last series were back and some of them remembered me, as did the host, Sandi.”

He concluded, “I don’t know if I’d go back for a third time, but if they offered I’d definitely think about it.”

• To see how Paul fares on today’s Fifteen to One tune into Channel 4 at 3pm.
