Medals aplenty for NW Shotokan

The successful NWSKC team

The Aileach Community Centre was the venue for the 10th UKF International Invitation event which comprised teams from England, Scotland, Romania as well as numerous entries from all over Ireland.

The senior team kata event brought more success with Laura, James and Rebecca winning bronze and the experienced team of Eathan Sloan and StephenJohn topping the group with an impressive display to win gold.

Individual Kumite gave the North West’s competitors the chance to go toe to toe with some top class opposition which only served to make them raise their game, fighting hard and smart for every point in an effort to not only win a medal but also to improve their performances.

Stephen John and Oran won bronze followed by Laura and Sloan who also won bronze in both Ippon and Sanbon Kumite events.  Laura added to her tally by winning silver in the Junior Sanbon.  She was also selected to fight on the Senior Female International Rotation Kumite team alongside Iula Dodoc from Romania and Jade Blair from Scotland and in a very exciting final they defeated the team from Karate Sport England.
