It’s official…the people of Tyrone have voted and the result for the county’s favourite ice cream is in. We voted for… Mint Chocolate Chip.
To celebrate National Ice Cream Month Mullin’s Ice Cream carried out a survey across the North to find out what ice-cream floats our boats. With a landslide victory, Mint Chocolate Chip took the top spot in Tyrone, with Chocolate the preferred flavour in Derry and Armagh, while Honeycomb was scooped up by Down and Antrim.
Unsurprisingly, it was confirmed that we Irish favour a bit of flavour, as vanilla was firmly voted the least likely choice of ice cream and rightly so.
Obviously, Summer is the unchallenged season for eating ice cream. June is the highest production month of the year for the affordable luxury, but supply and demand remains strong right through to the end of August.
Nigel Cairns, the commercial director at Dale Farm Ice Cream said, “It’s clear from this research that Tyrone is a county of Mint Chocolate Chip fanatic. This has been one of Mullin Ice Cream’s most popular lines for many years, however we were surprised to see such a difference in preference across our counties.”
Tyrone has a love for the Mint Chocolate sweet treat, which is a contradiction of flavours, blended together to work in perfect harmony with each other.
However, like a million other people in the world, my undisputed winner is the bold, rich flavour of chocolate and while I am from this great county of Tyrone, I agree with Armagh and Derry on their flavour preference of ice cream.
