Strabane’s Eurovision star Ryan Dolan has recently celebrated the launch of his first album.
‘Deep Covers’ features ten current chart toppers. The album also boasts the accolade of having the greatest number of covers ever to be released together on one album.
Working alongside Wez Devine, co-writer of Ryan’s hit ‘Start Again’, Deep Covers has enjoyed a positive public reception much to the delight of the Strabane singer.
“This album was a labour of love and includes covers of my favourite current artists, everything from Bruno Mars to Sam Smith, so it was great to see the response it has received,” Ryan explained.
“I wanted a laid-back aesthetic to feature heavily on this album so I tailored my song choices around that. Every track was chosen carefully, but I have to admit that my favourite would be Charlie Puth’s song Attention, it was a pleasure to put my own spin on it.”
While the album celebrates all that is new Ryan assures he draws his inspiration from Pop royalty Michael Jackson and Queen alike. “My dad introduced me to Queen at a young age and I was hooked, I think I was the only kid in my class to know who Queen were never mind listen to them.
“They were the musical influences that shaped my early years whilst everybody else was listening to The Spice Girls,” he added.
Not one to simply do a predictable re-run of a cover Ryan puts a unique twist on what are certain to be future classics.
