TWO major businesses are set to open in Strabane next month.
Fast-food giants McDonald’s and House Proud Furnishings are both due to open for business in December.
McDonald’s which will be located on the former site of Pat Kirk’s garage on Railway Street is nearing completion with its prefabricated buildings put into place in recent days.
It was initially anticipated that the global restaurant chain wouldn’t open until early 2018 however, a source from the company has confirmed Strabane’s golden arches will now open for business on December 13.
Bringing with it a major job boost the company will employ in the region of 120 staff in full-time and part-time positions.
Meanwhile House Proud Furnishings Ltd, is also expected to open its doors to customers before Christmas.
Construction work is currently ongoing at the company’s new location at the iconic Linton and Robinson store on Abercorn Square. The former furniture store which was based in Strabane for almost 60 years closed in 2013, resulting in the loss of dozens of jobs.
Strabane will become House Proud’s ninth store across the North but it is not yet known how many jobs it will bring. However it is certain the 34,000 square foot showroom will be a major boost to the town.
