Tyrone appeal for a new sponsor

Chairman Francie Devine, right, has appealed for a new sponsor for the Tyrone SuperCupNI teams

THE organising committee of the Tyrone SuperCupNI has launched an appeal for a major new sponsor ahead of the county’s participation in the 2018 tournament.

Tyrone’s four year association with Schimmel Distribution came to an end following this year’s famed international competition, leaving the county committee seeking a new financial backer.

This week Tyrone chairman Francie Devine thanked Schimmel for their financial support in recent years before appealing for a new sponsor to come on board.

The Strabane man said Tyrone’s annual participation in the international youth tournament which attracts many of the best club and international teams in the world offered any potential sponsor a unique opportunity.

He, too, vowed that the committee woud leave no stone unturned in ensuring that any new sponsor would get full value for money.

“First and foremost I want to thank Alan Gregg and Schimmel Distribution for their valuable support for the past four years,” he said.

“Alan had initially committed to three years but stayed on for an extra year. I can’t thank him enough and we are eternally grateful.

“We are finding it difficult to source a new sponsor and if there is anyone or any company out there who might be interested we’d certainly love to talk to them.

“It takes a lot of fundraising to ensure that every year the most talented boys in the county get the opportunity to pit their wits aginst some of the best young footballers from across the globe.

“The competition has a tremendous profile and from our end we will do everything in our power to ensure that any new sponsor will get maximum promotion.”

The chairman’s appeal coincided with this week’s announcement that the 2018 tournament will also include an U13 section.

Next year’s SuperCupNI will run from Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27, with the opening ceremony taking place in Coleraine on Sunday, August 22.
