Strabane in top-two clash at Melvin

Chrissy Gallagher and Strabane face Magherafelt in a top of the table clash this weekend

STRABANE Athletic boss Eamon Curry insists the onus is on his side to win Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash against Magherafelt Sky Blues at the Melvin Playing Fields.

The Sky Blues sit proudly on top of the NI Intermediate League having won six and drawn one of their opening seven games while Athletic are two points behind after five wins and two draws.

Victory in Saturday’s showdown will propel Curry’s resurgent outfit to the summit at the halfway stage and the ex-Tyrone Milk Cup supremo said he would be sending his players out to do just that.

“Without doubt the onus is on us, 100 per cent,” he said.

“The players are sent out to win every game, it’s the same set-up, the same game plan.

“We have home advantage and we want to make that count.

On Saturday Athletic resumed their league campaign by hitting visitors Oxford United Stars for six with just one in reply, Curry’s boys racing into a five nil lead to leave the outcome done and dusted at the break.

As it stands Magherafelt are top on 19 points with Athletic on 17.
