THE Friends of Knockavoe are busy preparing for a magical fund-raising ball that promises to be a night to remember.
‘The Butterfly Ball’ will take place on Saturday, June 9 at the Fir Trees Hotel and will feature a red carpet, champagne reception, three course meal and a grand draw and auction.
Tickets will be priced at £22.50 each and will be on sale from the school and any committee member shortly.
The group’s Public Relations Officer, Julie Devine is looking forward to a night of celebration.
“The idea for the ball came up when we were brainstorming ideas for fund-raising at the beginning of the school year,” she said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the school to the people of Strabane, as well as raising much needed funds for extra curricular activities such as the summer scheme, swimming, outdoor play equipment, residential trips and horse riding.
“We came up with the name the Butterfly Ball as the butterfly has a very special meaning to the parents, children and staff at the school, as it symbolises growth and change and I think we as parents have noticed the growth and change in our children since they attended the school.
“Martina McComish the principal and Grainne Dunne, vice principal as well as the staff have all been very supportive in helping us plan the ball, and each class in the school will be contributing to the ball by creating a centre piece for each table.
“We expect the ball to be a huge success as many businesses are already enquiring about sponsoring prizes for the grand draw and offering their services on the night.
“We have even secured a signed jersey from the Republic of Ireland’s Shane Duffy to auction off on the night. We hope everyone attending has a fantastic time.”
