ALMOST 170 more parking tickets have been issued in Strabane during the first three months of this year in comparison to the same period last year, new figures show.
According to figures released by the Department of Infrastructure (DFI), Between January and March of this year, a total of 575 on and off-street parking tickets were issued to unfortunate drivers overstaying their limit in car parks and in spaces around the town centre and outside shops in Strabane.
In comparison to the same period last year, 406 on and off-street parking tickets had been issued in the town resulting in an additional 169 tickets issued.
This translates to just over six parking tickets handed out daily in Strabane in comparison to last year, where just over four tickets were issued daily.
In terms of Derry City and Strabane District Council, a total of 992 parking tickets were issued in three months.
In the same period last year, motorists in Derry City and Strabane District Council received 882 parking tickets overall.
Overall, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council topped the number of off-street parking tickets with 1,194 issued, representing 13 per-cent of all off-street tickets in the North.
