A GROUP of footballers from Strabane Sigersons U10 team have been selected to appear in a TV advert showcasing their on-the-ball talents.
The 11 boys who were chosen were among 150 entries from clubs across the country. They were shortlisted to appear in the advert for a national insurance company after creating short auditions.
Upon reaching Dublin for filming, the boys were given the star treatment on set in an old housing estate in the city. As Sigersons’ coaching officer Jason Foley put it, “they thought they were in Hollywoodâ€, being treated to full-fledged dressing rooms and, more importantly, free food.
What followed was four hours of filming in which the boys candidly played football on the street in a ‘70s style scene, reminiscent of many kid’s childhoods. Also appearing in the advert are Irish football and rugby stars Roy Keane and Brian O’Driscoll, ensuring the Strabane boys were in good company.
“It’s great for them to be representing the club and the town like this”, says Jason. The advert is likely to be aired leading up to the All-Ireland final this weekend.
