Teenager hospitalised following Carlton Drive assault

CRITICISM has followed an attack in which a teenager suffered a broken collar bone.

The 18-year-old was set upon at Carlton Drive on Friday night, January 18, however the extent of the incident has only just come to light.

At around 11.30pm as the victim was walking along a footpath at the junction of Carlton Drive and Collins Walk when he was punched and kicked by three unknown males. The teenager was hospitalised and required treatment for a broken collar bone and bruising to his body.


Andy Gallagher is community worker for the Carlton Drive area. Condemning the assault, he said, “It’s horrendous that people can’t go about their business without being accosted by young thugs. It’s totally unacceptable,” he added.

Calling for assistance in bringing those responsible to book, the PSNI added, “We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the attack or has any information to contact us at Strabane on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
