THE reputation of local club CB Martial Arts was bolstered massively at the weekend, when fighters secured a glut of medals in Derry.
Four fighters made the journey to the Everglades Hotel, with three returning with silverware.
At just 12-years-old, young Darragh Devine is proving to be an exciting prospect for the club and he had his opponent on the ropes in round one. The barrage continued with the local lad eventually getting the nod from all three judges.
Next up was Liam Lafferty (24). He took on a well ranked opponent from Derry but again out manoeuvred him to secure a second round stoppage.
Michael McCrossan (22) of CB Martial Arts was faced with a big fighter from Dungannon but again proved too strong. The CB Martial Arts hat-trick was complete.
Big Tom Mullan was aiming to make it a full house for the local club. In a bout packed with heavy blows and crunching kicks though, he was narrowly pipped on points. He will aim to put that score right when he returns to action next month.
Coach Ciaran Boyle said he was delighted with his fighters’ performances.
“Things are going well and we now have more wins than defeats in the club. So I know I am doing something right and hopefully things continue in the right direction,” he said
