Devlin strikes for glory at Clan Wars

STRABANE Mixed Martial Artist Aaron Devlin was in fine form at the weekend, putting his opponent to the sword with a unanimous points decision.
Devlin was competing in the highly rated Clan Wars affair in Belfast’s Ramada Plaza Hotel on Sunday. Fighting out of Derry’s Team Torres stable, the 24-year-old extended his record to four wins and one defeat with victory over Alex Kravston.
Kravston had travelled up from Dublin and was expected to put in a strong performance. It was though his Strabane opponent who had his armed raised by the referee after the final bell.
A former training partner of UFC-bound Mixed Martial Arts star James Gallagher, Devlin has quietly been rising through the ranks of the Northern Irish fight scene.
Following his weekend performance, he now turns his attention to Jiu Jitsu and the hope of titles there.
“I’m going to the Irish and British Opens in May in Jiu Jitsu and then hopefully get another MMA fight in the summer,” he revealed this week.
“I was happy with my performance on Sunday because I won all my rounds comfortably. I was a bit disappointed actually that I didn’t finish him.”
Looking ahead long term, Devlin added, “I want to be European Jiu Jitsu champion and hopefully get a few titles under my belt. I’ve just finished college and I’m training full time now so hopefully things come together.
