Counting has resumed in Omagh for the concluding stages of the West Tyrone and Fermanagh and South Tyrone counts.
No candidate has yet reached quota in West Tyrone, with eight of the 18 left in contention.
Independent Josephine Deehan was eliminated as counting ceased at 10pm on Friday night after stage seven. Her vote will be redistributed this morning (Saturday), with counting resuming from 9am.
The likely scenario will see either Grace McDermott, Declan McAleer or Allan Bresland eliminated after stage eight, with one further count.
As it stands, it’s almost certain that three Sinn Fein candidates will be elected, with the SDLP, DUP and UUP each securing a seat.
Counting has also resumed for Fermanagh and South Tyrone after sitting UUP Castlederg MLA Alastair Patterson was eliminated after stage five on Friday night.
DUP leader Arlene Foster and Dungannon MLA Maurice Morrow have already reached the 6,740 quota, as has Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew.
The redistributed UUP vote should see Rosemary Barton reach the 6,740 quota.
Both Sinn Fein candidates John Feely and Sean Lynch look set to take the final two seats, with SDLP candidate Richie McPhillips reliant and a large transferred vote from the UUP to give him any hope of taking back a seat for the SDLP.
