Domz ‘The Bombs’ back on home turf

Local MMA fighter Domz McConnell will return to the ring in October.

MIXED Martial Art extraordinaire, Dominic McConnell is set to take centre stage next month as he fights on home turf for the first time in six years. Fighting ready, the Strabane man returns to do battle on Irish soil following time in Australia where he has continued competing in the world of MMA and even tried his hand at pro-boxing.

Self-professed as the main event,  ‘The Bombz’ McConnell will be competing with ‘Fighters for life’ for the Five Nations kickboxing title ON October 21.

Fresh from the gym, a confident Dominic predicted he’s the man to beat: “There is no competition as far as I’m concerned. I’m expected to win. Too much preparation has gone in to this for me not to come away with the title.”

Following a strict diet and intense regime of cardio and training twice a day, six days per week he is keen to showcase the abilities he has picked up Down Under.

Intent on doing Strabane and his supporters proud, ‘the Bombz’ has been overwhelmed by the backing of local businesses: “The support within the community has been unreal with sponsors including Abercorn Bar and Grill and Peak Performance Grill.

“The belt will be mine and I will be bringing it back to Strabane.”

Entry to the battle at Halfway House Burnfoot is £10 and payment can be made on the night. Doors open at 6pm with the first fight at 7pm. For more information contact Ciaran Boyle on Facebook or check out  Fighters for Life, again on Facebook.
