Lifford Youthreach is helping school leavers

Are you or someone you know currently out of school or education, or thinking
about leaving school?

Would you like to get your education back on track and gain some valuable skills and qualifications?

Lifford Youthreach may be the answer…

Lifford Youthreach is an education centre for early school leavers between the ages of 16 and 20 and young people who may be at risk of not completing their Junior Cert, Leaving Cert or Leaving Cert Applied.

Youthreach provides QQI certification at Level 2, 3, & 4 in a range of subject and topic areas. QQI is the recognised national certification body for Ireland. Its qualifications are recognised by, colleges, I.Ts and employers all over the country.

Youthreach is a full time programme. The programme recruits new learners on a continuous basis throughout the year. Young people receive an allowance for attending the programme depending on their age and attendance levels.

At Youthreach a lot of emphasis is put on learner centred study, which means that we can provide one to one support and guidance for each learner, throughout their time on the course.

As well as this, one to one support, we offer a range of classroom based subjects and topics which provide learners with a wide variety of skills, abilities and qualifications upon completing the course. Through our work experience programme learners are assisted in going out into the world of work to gain valuable skills and qualities. This aspect of the course also provides learners with an opportunity to investigate what type of work they may be interested in when they progress, develop and leave the programme in the future.

We also run a summer programme that aims to develop the practical, personal and social skills of each young person, through, different activities, workshops and residential. This is a new and exciting way to learn, as well as a great way to wrap up the year.

Lifford Youthreach has been working with young people in the Finn Valley area for the past 15 years and has had great success. Over the coming weeks you will hear some of these success stories from past and present learners, describing their time on the programme, why they attended Youthreach, what they achieved during the programme and what they have been doing since they left. Come back next week to hear the views of one of our past learners.
