Eamon Curry has been appointed new manager of Strabane Athletic

Eamon Curry has been appointed the new manager of Strabane Athletic following the departure of Neil Carlin.

Yesterday Athletic confirmed that Carlin was stepping down for personal reasons with immediate effect.

Curry, who had been assistant to Carlin, will now take charge of the club’s senior teams and the former Tyrone Milk Cup manager’s first task will be to try and guide his side through to the final of the Craig Memorial Cup.

This afternoon (Saturday) Athletic face Maiden City in the semi-final at Spamount Playing Fields.

Confirming Carlin’s departure a club spokesman said, “We thank Neil for his dedication and hard work over last season and the early stages of this one.

“Under Neil’s stewardship the first team progressed and recorded some excellent results. He leaves a squad that allows the club to be optimistic about future development. Neil will always be welcome at Strabane Athletic and we wish him well.”

Today’s semi-final kicks off at 2pm.
