Top acts line up for the Alley

The gang from Give My Head Peace are looking forward to their appearance at the Alley.

Christmas is just around the corner and thoughts are already turning to the new year and a feast of entertainment to look forward to at Strabane’s Alley Theatre heading into spring.

The Alley has just launched a packed new programme of concerts, exhibitions, festivals and drama for winter/spring 2018 and there are some special ticket offers up for grabs.


The new season features more than 70 events guaranteed to please audiences including The Blame Game star and comedian Colin Murphy; Queen sensation Flash Harry; the Give My Head Peace gang; laughter with Conal Gallen’s new production ‘Suckin Diesel’; and comedy drama with ‘Dumped Divorcee Rides Again’ and ‘Maggie’s Feg Run’.

Music lovers can look forward to a range of gigs between January and April 2018 including the fabulous Hot House Flowers who will be back with their acoustic show and, renowned Irish Guitarist Declan Sinnott who will be joined by the fabulous Vicky Keating in March.

‘The Fureys’ will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary Tour performing all their classic songs in April. Country fans will be delighted to welcome back Isla Grant in concert, Barry Kirwan and Dominic Kirwan and The Stars of Keltic TV.

Classical and Brass Band music also plays a big part in the new programme as February welcomes ‘Musical Mozart by Candlelight’ just in time for Valentine’s Day, with beautiful settings and costumes from the European Baroque Ensemble and world class opera singers, Bollington.
Strabane Concert Brass will be getting together for a one-off concert in March and, the following month the Alley is delighted to be welcoming Strabane Chamber Choir, two performances guaranteed to be especially popular with local audiences.

The Spring programme welcomes back a range of established local festivals including the St Patrick’s Day festivities, Strabane Drama Festival and the North West Music Festival. Strabane Drama Festival returns from March 16-24 2018 with nine nights of superb drama. Make sure to book your tickets for individual nights before Christmas and get one free, an ideal gift.

Jacqueline Doherty, Alley Theatre venue manager, urged everyone to check out the spring programme to find events to suit all ages from family entertainment with ‘Little Red Riding Hood and the Silly Billy Wolf’, to a wide range of music, drama and comedy.

She added, “We are also delighted to be hosting the Mayor’s Vintage Tea Dance in January and brides-to-be will not want to miss our bridal weekend also taking place in January. This two-day event will feature a vintage bridal show with afternoon tea and, the North West Bridal Fair which will include a spectacular catwalk show and everything you need to plan your perfect wedding day.
