McCullagh claims the overall crown

THE well-supported Lifford Strabane Athletics Club Dalys XL 3 Race 5K Spring Series came to a conclusion on Sunday with the final round at Lifford.

Foyle Valley’s Keith Shiels led the field home in a time of 15:35 minutes, 12 seconds ahead of second placed Carmen Runners’ Martin Cox and third placed Paul Barbour, who finished in 16.44 minutes.

Host club member, Claire McGuigan led the ladies home in 17:52, over a minute ahead of second placed Leoni Mullen and third placed Angeline McShane.

Following the conclusion of the third race, the overall series winners were as follows.

In the senior men’s section, home club member, Garreth McCullagh claimed the overall crown, with Barbour second and Ben Carr of Finn Valley in third, while another Strabane Lifford runner, Brandon McGrinder took the junior title ahead of Jack Moore and Dan Haigney.

Meanwhile, Paul Dillon, Philip Donaghy, Bill Duncan, Michael Duncan and Richard Raymond claimed the men’s 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+ and 60+ titles respectively.

In the ladies series, McGuigan took the overall title ahead of Mullen, with Murray in third, while the junior crown was claimed by Carmen Runners’ Sarah Broderick, with Lifford Strabane duo, Alisha Cuskelly and Faustina Gibson second and third respectively.

Noreen McGettigan, Ita Kelly, Ursula Coyle, Jean McGlinchey and Marjan Bangert claimed the women’s 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+ and 60+ titles respectively.
