Football match for meningitis taking place tomorrow

A KIND-HEARTED Strabane man is busy organising a significant charity football match for the fourth year in a row.
Liverpool football enthusiast, Shaun Hamilton’s charity match is now in it’s fourth year, and will once again see fans of Liverpool FC pit themselves against Manchester United supporters.
As ever, the match is in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation and it is set to take the Melvin Sports Complex by storm on August 26 at 2pm.
Speaking about the event, Shaun says he has been blown away by the support he has received for the event over the past four years.
“Tomorrow the fourth charity match will take place. One of the main reasons I want to keep these matches going is my close connection to meningitis, as I contracted the disease  when I was a teenager, plus the fact I want to introduce Liverpool, football and charity into my son’s life.
“Now in our fourth year, we have raised nearly £15,000 and counting. All those years ago I thought it was a one-off, and I can’t believe the people of Strabane and Liverpool have once again got behind me.
“I would urge everyone to check out my JustGiving page. As this is my fourth year I hope to smash all previous records. All proceeds are towards a great charity.”
