Mother angered after finding ‘Class A drugs’ at park

A MOTHER of two has voiced her anger after she discovered what she believes to be Class A drugs near a children’s park in Strabane.
The woman who wishes to remain anonymous said she was completely horrified when she came across the drugs recently in the Ballycolman area of the town.
Speaking to the Chronicle she said, “I was heading to the shop one morning and I happened to notice something lying on the ground from a distance.
“As I came closer I was horrified to find a small clear bag with a small amount of white powder in it.
“I am not stupid I knew exactly what is was,” she continued.
“I don’t care what people do with their weekend and their bodies but it is a disgrace that this has been left lying behind. Put it in the bloody bin. It was only 100ft from a kid’s play park and there are small children that walk these streets every day.
“I have two young boys who be at that shop and park nearly every day, this is just shocking.”
Acting on instinct the woman said she just wanted to dispose of the drugs.
“I didn’t call the police,” she said. “I was in shock and I just wanted to get rid of it. I put it down a drain so no-one else could get it.”
Recently drug paraphernalia was found in a play area near Courtrai Park in the town and the woman says these incidents are becoming more frequent.
“It is getting nearly as common as finding a bottle of drink lying around,” she continued. “I am as much against drugs as everyone else, and I am aware there were drugs found near another play park. It is frightening to know that this stuff is being left around for young kids to pick up.”
Anyone with any information about the use or supply of drugs or anti-social behaviour is advised to contact the police on 101.
Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
