New minister looking forward to settling in

PREPARING to take up his new role as rector of Christ Church in Strabane Rev John White says he is particularly looking forward to getting to know the people of the town.
Stepping in to the post left vacant by the departure of Rev Mark Lennox, Rev White will be formally introduced to his parishioners on Friday, February 15.
Currently serving at St John’s Parish in Lurgan, where he has ministered for the last 14-and-a-half years, Rev White is relishing the chance to check out the West.
Having previously served in Tobermore near Cookstown this will be his second ministry in Tyrone. In fact he explains that the only county in the North where he hasn’t yet been based in his 36 years at the pulpit is Fermanagh.
Currently Rev White and his two sons Andrew (28) and David (21) are busy packing boxes and preparing to make the move to their new home.
In preparation for his new job Rev White has already met members of the Select Vestry and a few of his parishioners, and he is grateful for all the good wishes he has received.
He explained, “Everybody has been making me feel welcome, it couldn’t be better.”
Relishing the change ahead Rev White added, “I am looking forward to meeting everyone involved with our Church and all the other people in the town. I am here to try and be of service and help people in any way I can, and I am certainly looking forward to setting in to the rectory and the town of Strabane.
“Of course it can be challenging to get to know a new area, but Strabane seems great… apart from the traffic that is,” he added.
Rev White will be installed on Friday, February 15 at 8pm at Christ Church.
