Holy Cross girls ‘jump’ to latest trophy success

HOLY Cross College’s equestrian team, last week, made the short journey to the Ecclesville Centre in Fintona to compete in the ever-popular Drumragh College Inter Schools Event.

Competing in a large field of 10 teams, the Holy Cross girls were second to ride, and from the outset it was clear that they meant business!

Carrying a zero score from round one, it was all about the speed round and in the end the exceptionally fast times posted proved a little too much for the competition, as the Holy Cross girls rounded off the season the way they started, with a fantastic win to bring more silverware back to the College trophy cabinet.

Not done yet, and to round off an already fabulous day, the super fast times posted by Bláthnaid Doherty, Brooklyn Edwards and Elly Mae Duncan Buchanan, placed them 3rd, 4th and 5th in the individual event in a field of more than 60 competitors.

Moving on to individual competition in Eglinton on Sunday, Bláthnaid Doherty was again in top form, riding two super double clear rounds to place in the ribbons in both the 80cm and 90cm Novice Classes. A double clear round by Eimear O’Neill made sure that she too was in the ribbons in the 80cm class.
