A 62-YEAR-OLD Strabane man took part in a marathon swimming challenge on Wednesday in memory of his late wife.
Speaking prior to the Herculean event, which would see him swim at Riversdale for a full hour, Michael Moore explained that he wanted to undertake the challenge to raise money for Macmillan.
Mr Moore’s wife, Marie passed away in October, just nine weeks after she was diagnosed with cancer.
“I’ve raised £1,000 already and I’m happy enough with that,” Mr Moore remarked.
I’ve done charity swims before but it’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this.
“It’s a good challenge. It’s good fun and you just have to let your mind go blank and go for it.”
Mr Moore would like to extend a word of thanks for all the encouragement from the local community ahead of the swim and to everyone who donated to the worthy cause.
